Club Overview

Founded in 1887 and celebrating its 130 anniversay this year, Rowledge CC is one of the leading clubs in the Surrey/Hants border area. It is committed to achieving the highest levels of performance; maximising participation at all levels and ages; and playing an active role in and across the local community including local primary and secondary schools.

People

Approaching 700 including over 280 families

Several spanning three/four generations

Majority within Rowledge boundaries

Over 1000 volunteer ‘sessions’ support Friday Night Junior Coaching

Performance

Reached National Village Cup Final at Lords (1985) and semi-final on three occasions since – last being 2010 (15 August vs. Shipton-under-Wychwood)

Achieved highest level winning Southern Premier 2 (Season 2009) following two seasons as runners-up (2007-08)

Ladies promoted to National South 1 (2009) and 4th XI to I’Anson 3 (2009)

Laid foundations of subsequent growth/success with seven successive wins in I’Anson League locally (1970s/1980s).

Participation

At least 12 teams take to the field every Season … including five  senior, two ladies/girls and five youth/junior (U9-U17)

Over 250 matches at all levels

Club actively engaged with all surrounding local primary/secondary schools to promote cricket.

Home at ‘The Rec’ (Rowledge)

Focus for both club and village

Key social venue include, social evenings, Summer Jazz and music nights attracting  local villagers and dinner dances.

New drainage and wickets in place to provide a improved quality of cricket and usage for the Recreational ground.

Supported by a second ground in neighbouring village of Binstead
